Quigley Lodge

Quigley Lodge is located on the uppermost reach of Fall River just below the Oak House in the beautiful Fall River Valley. Previously known as Spinnerfall Lodge (and prior to that Rick's Lodge), the grounds are no longer open to the public but the lodge in its entirety is available for rent. Individual rooms may not be rented separately.

The lodge is now named after the legendary fly fisher Robert Quigley, who guided out of Rick's Lodge and tied custom Fall River flies on site in Rick's fly shop.

You may have heard of the Quigley Cripple, a fly pattern he invented fishing right here on the Fall River.

Check out this YouTube video of Bob fishing the water just above the lodge back in the 1980s. One of Bob's favorite fishing spots — and to this day the best spot on the river — is the little-known and very hard-to-find Obsidian Hole.

Accommodations

A large common area comprises the dining room, a bar, and commercial kitchen.

Seven rooms in the lodge are adjacent to the common area and can accommodate up to 14 overnight guests. The rooms are cozy with creature comforts including a keurig coffee maker, a small fridge, and updated bedding and linens. Each room has a queen bed and a euro lounger, suitable for a couple, a couple with child, or two friends.

The common area also includes TV, Internet access via Starlink, and a shuffleboard table. There is no television service but you are free to display video from your phone on the Apple TV with AirPlay.

Food Service

The lodge provides no food or beverage service but you are free to use the commercial kitchen to prepare your own meals or hire in a private chef. Catering is also available locally. Upon request, we can provide you with references for local or traveling chefs (who may be hard to book) and/or local catering and/or to-go options.

If you'd like to enjoy the luxury of gourmet-chef hospitality and a turnkey stay at Quigley Lodge, you can look into booking your trip through Travel Creel Hospitality.

Oak House

If you have an extra large group or would rather stay in a conventional residence, the property just upriver from the lodge — called the Oak House — is also available for rent.

Fishing Guides

You are free to hire your favorite fishing guides directly, though we can also provide recommendations. All guides must sign a license and waiver with Quigley Lodge, LLC prior to entering the property.

Here are some top-notch guides who know the upper river well and are pre-cleared to guide out of the lodge property:

Pit River Float

If you have the time, a day of fishing Pit 1 from a raft can be a ton of fun. It's pretty much just nymphing, but nice to mix up things up with some whitewater rapids. You put in at the Pit River Campground and take out at the Highway 299 bridge.

There are just a couple guides who are licensed on these waters. Reach out to them to book a trip:

Not Just Fishing

While the Fall River remains the best fly fishing in California, there is so much more to enjoy. The lodge is a special place to experience year after year.
